What wifi adapter should I buy for moderate gaming

K so I'm trying to move my computer to another section of the house where it will not have Ethernet connection, and have decided that my only option is wireless. The problem is, I want to know what adapter will be efficient enough for lightly competitive gaming and everyday research. I did a little research and found out that I prolly need one that is at least 300mbps and dual band, the question I have is what brand should I look at? I dont want some off-brand thirdy party POS.
