Proper sizing of a shotgun for a 12 year old girls for trap and skeet?, Fishing

I am so thankful that Wilsonville HS, is putting together a trap and skeet team for girls. My Daughter is going to join. I have a nice Benneli 20 gauge she can use but the stock is just too long. She is 15 so probably not going to grow much so this may be the perfect time to get her a gun. I wan't something that in competition she can use, but also be useful hunting actual birds. I would appreciate advice and guidance on what we should get. I would also like to know where we can go to get it to ...

Martial Arts Class for 6 Year Old Daughter, Fishing

Found an introductory 6 week class for kids and decided to get started. Tonight will be her first visit to meet the instructor and take her first class. I'm not interested in having her become competitive, just be able to protect herself. Why a girl instead of boy? Recent stats claim that 1 in 4 girls are subjected to assault and 1 in 5 will be ***** by the time they are 20. If a few bucks and a little time can keep her from being in one of those statistics, it's well worth it....

20 year old Mezcal?, Fishing

So 21 years ago someone bought me a bottle of mezcal for my 21st birthday,I never drank it because I got sick off of tequila and the smell made me sick for years afterward. I was cleaning out a cupboard and found it, still sealed up never opened. Is that stuff any good now or should I toss it?...

Won't Be Making the Trip This Year (Again), Fishing

A small group of us Idahoans have decided again this year not to make the trip to the St. Helens area for springer fishing. Just doesn't seem worth the money. There is usually 7-8 of us. We bring a few boats and usually stay about a week. Before you begin to jump for joy that us "dirt farmers" from up river aren't going to taking "your fish" we still may try to target them in the Dalles Pool in a few weeks. I just cancelled our reservations at a St. Helens area hotel.... tha...

No garage this year at fin clipping, Fishing

SORRY BUT NO GARAGE SALE THIS YEAR AT FIN CLIPPING. Have had a couple folks say they are coming to the garage sale at fin clipping. NO GARAGE SALE THIS YEAR, SORRY. Antelope this year????, Fishing

Yuck! Pyrosomes again this year., Fishing

Unfortunately they are back and in big numbers. The Corvallis GT had an article on them this morning and so did OPB. Below is a link if you want to read more about the situation. Some research is ongoing, but it's likely going to take a dramatic change in conditions for the pyrosomes to die or go away. ron m https://www.opb.org/news/article/mas...s-the-pacific/...

Year of the Crappie, Fishing

Yep, that’s my prediction. Brownlee fish are 12 inches and there are lots of them. Prineville is loaded but fish I have caught are about nine inches. 3 wet years means water in Warner Valley. Gerber is a sleeper that will wake up. Shasta has water and nobody fishes for bruisers. Bass and trout rule down there. John Day is always worth a try because you can shift gears on your target species. Better get your crappies this year, the stars are aligned....

Rockfish good news for next year, Fishing

As many of you know, the Yelloweye Rockfish "quota" will be increased substantially next year. It's a soft quota that mainly means ODFW has a little more leeway in allowing Yelloweye bycatch. Nonetheless, here are some likely outcomes. * Move the inshore bottom fishing line back out to 40 fathoms (right now it is 30 fathoms) * Increase the lingcod limit to 3 (right now it is 2) None of this is certain, but the trends are hopeful....

WOW Auction tags went for super money this year., Fishing

I think there were across the board records on nearly all the tags. Goat went for $41k a new record, Sheep went for $160K, a deer tag was $50K, elk as much as $45K. I guess people are doing well, certainly A&H is, hopefully we get some more good ground opened up. I really would like to see some good upland A&H ground....
