Wi-Fi Extender Internet Connection Cutting Out.

We have an Arris TG1682G router in our house, and I am connected to it via a TP-Link Wi-Fi Range Extender. I'm plugged into the extender through an Ethernet cable. We use Bright House.

My problem that I'm having is that when I am playing an online game, every once in a while my internet will cut out and back in for a few seconds, which in turn disconnects me from my game. Not a lag spike. My internet actually fully cuts off for 5-10 seconds and I will get disconnected from my game. This will happen once every hour or so when I'm gaming for longer sessions.

I've tried several things.

1. I've tried connecting to my extender's network with a Wi-Fi adapter instead of Ethernet.

2. I've tried completely changing to a different Wi-Fi range extender. (Netgear Ex6100v2)

3. I've tried resetting my range extender.

4. I've tried connecting to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks individually.

I don't think it's a problem with the router because my roommate's internet seems to work just fine from his room, which is only slightly closer to the router.

I have my Wi-Fi range extender in my room because there are no outlets between my room and the router that I can use. I just use it because it basically acts as a faster Wi-Fi adapter.

Another thing I've tried is just connecting directly to the router using my Wi-Fi adapter. Still get the same problem.

I get really good internet speeds other than that one issue though, and I get no lag or anything in between the drops.

Additionally I am running Windows 10 on a desktop PC.

Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Connection to WiFi Extender has no Internet access since upgrading to Mint 19

Just upgraded my desktop to Linux Mint 19 from 18.3 . Use a WiFI range extender because the router WiFi signal is not very strong and therefore performance is poor. When I connect to the range extender WiFi, very strong signal, the browsers (Firefox, Chrome) say no Internet connection. If I connect directly to the router WiFi , two bars signal at best, the Internet connection works fine , except that it is a bit slow. Note 1: All this set up was working fine in Mint 18.3 before the upgrade. ...

Internet Connection Break - Sent Data Much larger Than Received

Hello! For the past couple of weeks I’ve been getting constant “There is no internet connection” screens. The screen also states “DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET. This happens despite Local Area Connection Status shows I’m connected to the internet and I can see data flowing. One of the issue I noticed, when monitoring connection activity, is that my computer is sending much more data than receiving. This made me think that my computer might be infected. The connection break outs are getting... ...

WiFi No Longer Has Internet Connection on Windows 10

Hello, My WiFi was working fine until about 2 days ago when it suddenly said it was no longer connected to the internet (but it was still connected to the WiFi). Other devices on my WiFi such as my phone work fine but my computer seems to be having issues. If I plug an Ethernet cable in it gets the internet fine and if I try connecting to my phones mobile hot spot it is able to get the......

Dell Inspiron 15: Laptop keeps losing internet connection

I purchased a new laptop at the start of September. It's been working great, except in the last two weeks I keep losing my internet connection. Within just the last two weeks, I've had some other family members come to live with me. They're able to access the internet with their devices, no problem. But my computer keeps losing its connection. Even during the times I can't access the internet, my computer shows that it's connected to the network. The built-in network troubleshooter can't find ...

MBA randomly drops internet connection

Using 2017 MBA with High Sierra. Randomly drops the internet connection. Sometimes several times per hour, sometimes once a week. Most of the time it also drops the WiFi connection. Have tried turning WiFi on and off, renewing DHCP lease, rebooting. All of these work or not on a random basis. I rule out the WiFi network itself since all my other devices maintain the signal with no problems (2017 iMac w/High Sierra, 2007 iMac w/ Sierra, 2006 MacBook w/OSX 8.6?, original iPad, and iPhone 8), even ...

Home internet connection suddenly unreliable

I'm a bit at my wit's end so forgive me if this is a common topic. I have a 4 MB ADSL line which I access in my house via wifi. The ADSL modem is connected to an Asus RT-AC68U wifi router via ethernet. Everything worked okay for over a month, and then suddenly a week and a half ago it started struggling. It would intermittently disconnect, and in Overwatch I'd get ping times of over 1200 ms (compared to my usual range of 165-200 ms). Running MTR to AfriNIC (my local RIR), I see worst-case pin...

How to use Ethernet connection to provide Internet to a router?

What I want to achieve is to share an Ethernet-based Internet connection using ONLY a router to some computers and wireless devices. At the moment, I have a RJ45 cable that provides me Internet (it's from the building where I live) and I'm planning to buy a router. Is a router capable to achieve what I want? If so, what particular feature (if any) should it have to do that? What is the standard procedure to get it? Thanks for your answers! P.S.: I tried to search this on Super User but I didn...

Problem with dropping internet and slow wireless connection....Complete N00B

I've recently installed Ubuntu 17.10 on a Macbook Pro (Mid 2012). It's not dual boot so is my only os. I've noticed a few problems with the internet connection, the first being that I am only averaging around 20mb download speeds when I was receiving my usual 80mp/s on Mac OS and this is still the case when doing a speed test on my iPhone and android tablet. The other issue is that my wireless internet connection will die after awhile, sometimes after 2 mins, sometimes 2 hours, requiring a rebo...

Pixel 2 - Use Wi-Fi that's not an Internet Connection without requiring a popup

I sometimes need to connect to a Wi-Fi network with my Pixel 2 phone that is not an Internet connection. When I first connect to this network, my phone is authenticated and I get an IP address on the Wi-Fi subnet, but I'm still unable to connect to the device I need to access on that network (in this example, it's an HTTPS web server). Eventually (after a few seconds or so), a popup appears that says "This network has no Internet access. Stay Connected?" If I select "yes" o...
